Sucessful music videos in the last four years

To get a more of an idea how to make a successful music I needed to look at award winning music videos. I looked at Gammy awards for the last 4 years.

2014- "Suit and Tie"- Justin Timberlake and Jay Z

"Suit & Tie" is a song by American singer Justin Timberlake from his third studio album The 20/20 Experience  (2013). It features vocals from American rapper Jay-Z. This music video is a classy with the song being about "being well dresses and handsome". I like how they have changed the colour so it is a greyscale colour. This makes it look like it is a 1930s era. The props also help present this with an old fashion microphone, costumes and chandeliers. I enjoy the fast, snappy dance moves which make it enjoyable to watch.

2015- "Happy"- Pharrell Williams

"Happy" is a song written, produced, and performed by American singer and record producer Pharrell Williams, from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack album. This is a massive hit and not only for the single. The music video lifted everyone spirts. I really like this music video as it has a simple concept with regular people down the street dancing and singing and looking happy. Watching this music video makes people feel cheerful and happy!

2016- "Bad Blood"- Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar

"Bad Blood" is a song by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, from her fifth studio album 1989 (2014). The remixed version of the song, featuring American rapper Kendrick Lamar, was released on May 17, 2015. The lyrics of "Bad Blood" describe betrayal by a close friend. This is cleverly filmed music video as it starts of with a short sequence of two women fighting off men, showing the women are more dominant. Another thing that is interesting in this music video is that all the women are famous and sucessfull, such as Cara Delivine, Selena Gomez and Ellie Goulding. The video is shot very well with lots of special effects to make this a powerful and memorable music video.

2017-"Formation"- Beyoncé

Formation" is a song recorded by American singer Beyoncé for her sixth studio album Lemonade 2016). This music video I am less keen on however, I love the dancing in this and the vibrant and crazy outfits.
