Sucessful music videos in the last four years

To get a more of an idea how to make a successful music I needed to look at award winning music videos. I looked at Gammy awards for the last 4 years. 2014- "Suit and Tie"- Justin Timberlake and Jay Z "Suit & Tie" is a song by American singer Justin Timberlake from his third studio album The 20/20 Experience  (2013). It features vocals from American rapper Jay-Z. This music video is a classy with the song being about "being well dresses and handsome". I like how they have changed the colour so it is a greyscale colour. This makes it look like it is a 1930s era. The props also help present this with an old fashion microphone, costumes and chandeliers. I enjoy the fast, snappy dance moves which make it enjoyable to watch. 2015- "Happy"- Pharrell Williams "Happy" is a song written, produced, and performed by American singer and record producer Pharrell Williams, from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack album. The History of Music Videos

In this blog post I am going to be comparing 4 artists and 2 videos from each artist, 1 from a few years ago and 1 recent music video. I will compare how the videos have developed, how the artist themself have developed (their look, sound & style), how the video itself has developed (if there's a story, or production behind the lyrics and video), how much money they spent on each, and if the lyrics have changed/developed.  1. Chris Brown: No Air (2009) / Party (2017) You can see that throughout the 8 years a lot has changed with Chris Brown's music videos. It is clear that the scenery has become a lot bigger because in the first video (2009) was set in a very common place, which was the streets of New York and an apartment. Whereas now it is set in what looks like an abandoned shopping mall. How to make a good music video

July 17, 2017 HipHop/Rap (How to make a good music video) I watched this video on how a guy creates music videos for the genre of HipHop & Rap music. I thought that this was very interesting and i like the way that you can turn something so simple, like walking down a set of stairs, to something that looks genuinely quite cool. I think that if i were to do a music video then i will definitely use some of the tips that this guy has given. I really enjoyed the way that he slowed a lot of the clips down where there wasn't anything vocal, to give it an impact and to set the scene. I think this shows that you can take the most common place (i.e. a park) and make it into an amazing music video. I will definitely use a lot of low angle shots to give power to the main singer and then use mid shots when filming the dancers to give them all an equal sense of power.
